I {heart} Faces - Week 12 Pet's

Yeah!  This week I heart faces has a pet category. I take a lot of pictures of my two dogs!

I took this picture of Molly after retrieving her from the canyon. She was all tuckered out from her big bad adventure.

PSF - My cat is insane!

I love my pets, I really do....but sometimes they drive me CRAZY.   I'm pretty sure that my cat Summer is trying to send me to the looney bin with her antics.

Summer scratches things (aka: furniture, rugs, curtains, screen doors) to get attention.
Scratching gets attention.

Not only does she get my attention, but she also gets the dogs attention.

Unfortunately for Summer, the dogs are on my side of the issue and they are more than willing to chase the cat when she is being naughty.

Don't fret cat lovers.....the dogs never hurt her.  However sometimes I can't help but wish one of them would eat her.

Is that wrong to want your dog to eat your cat? After all, aren't RAW diets the new craze for spoiled pets?

Wordful Wednesday

Head over to Angie's place for more Wordful Wednesday posts!

This weekend I decided that I needed to do something that I absolutely hate to do. Well, hate is probably too strong of a word, but I seriously dislike this task and almost always avoid it.

So what dreaded deed did I perform? I read the manual that came with my camera!!

I like to tell myself that I am fairly camera savvy and I enjoy trying to figure out how to use my camera(s) without the aide of the silly manual. But I recently accidentally changed the focus point on my camera and I couldn't figure out how to get it back the way I liked it.

So on Saturday morning I grabbed the manual and gave it the once over. Wow, my Canon Rebel has a lot more to offer than I realized. Who knew a manual would be chalked full of useful information?

As I was fiddling with all my new found knowledge Kate came in to see what I was doing. So of course I started taking pictures of her (and the dogs, who are always where I am).

In this shot I was playing with adjusting the shutter speed and the aperture!

Quick shutter speed equals catching the dogs tongue at the precise moment it touched my precious daughters lips! Ewwww!

Remind me to kiss her good night on the cheek.

We actually paid for that!

When you purchase a poodle you do so knowing that ownership means forking over good money to groomers several times a year.  We have been taking Xena to Petsmart for a few years now and for the most part we have been happy with their grooming department.

So imagine my shock when Jim brought Xena home from Petsmart and the dog sitting before that looked like she had been groomed with dull rusty scissors. Sometimes the groomers miss a stray hair here or there......but this cut was ridiculously bad.  She looked like she had developed a bad case of mange.

It was so bad that I was beginning to wonder if all the groomers had gone home for the day and they let one of the cashiers give grooming a go!!!  The next day I spoke with the manager at the grooming department and she said she would personally take care of fixing Xena.  I was so relieved when I picked Xena up and found her looking like she had been groomed by a professional.  The manager Tina, apologized for the previous bad "do", said she would always be the one to groom Xena and told me our next appointment was free!  I don't know about all of you, but I really feel customer service has gone down the tubes.  It was refreshing to have an employee actually treat us like we mattered to them as customers!  So kudos to Tina at Petsmart for having pride in a job well done!

Dog Days of Summer!

Man, it is a dog's life around here! Molly and Xena spend the majority of the day lounging around the house. They do spring to life in the evening, just about the time when you would prefer not having a dog all up in  your face.

In anticipation of replacing my Poodle chewed sofa I have been trying to get the dogs to learn to love sleeping in their beds and not the sofa.  In Molly's case, she uses my favorite throw pillow as her royal bed!  So here is Molly in the new bed I bought her last week.  She seems to

enjoy it, but when I come home and check it for body heat, I tend to find it cool while the throw pillow is giving off the tale tale signs of doggy heat.

Can you see the black poodle her her navy blue bed??  Well neither could I!  I didn't see her outside or on the sofa so I went looking for her in the other rooms.  My heart sort of dropped when I couldn't find her.  It wasn't until I called her name and she acknowledged me that I realized she was laying right in front of me in her bed.  She really does disappear into that bed!  This comes in handy for surprise attacks on the cat!

Mollison P. Lickaford

The other day I was sitting at my computer typing away when I looked down to see my little shadow Molly staring up at me.  Sometimes having dogs drives me crazy, but I do love them.  Here are a few reason why I love Molly.  That little dog has the fastest tongue in the west!  No matter how many times you warn guest, they always think they will be faster than the tongue and won't get any dog kisses. They always lose!  I love the way her feet smell like fresh cut grass (yes, I smell my dogs feet).  When she is in need of a bath she starts to smell like a bag of dirty Frito's (strange but true).  Sometimes when I wake up in the morning I find Molly sleeping under our covers with her head propped on one of pillows like a little person.  Nothing like waking up to a smelly bag of frito's with grass scented feet.
