Sunday Stuff

Have I ever mentioned that I am the back stage director for the School Performance at my daughters Elementary School?  Well, if I haven't I am now.

The Performance isn't until mid May, but as you can imagine I am swamped with a lot of preparation for the big week (we have 4 shows).

Costumes, props, figuring out stage directions and lighting............it's enough to make my heart palpitate.  And if this isn't enough, I also need to complete the yearbook for the 5th graders (continue to take pictures for the yearbook), plan Girl scout meetings and a camping trip and deal with everyday life.

So if I am not around a lot in the blogosphere you will know why.  I hate missing out on anything so I will make sure to visit all my favorites.

In the meantime, I took a few minutes today to do something crafty.  I needed a Congratulations card, so after seeing this adorable card on Crafty Makes I felt inspired and created this card.

Kim's card is way more adorable than mine, but I'm happy with the way my imitation came out!  If you like making cards jump on over to Kim's blog, Crafty Makes.  You are sure to find something that will bring you inspiration.

Materials for the card:
Paper & Fibers: Sugared by Basic Grey
Star: Nestibilities
Ink: Rangers Vintage photo

Cupcake Challenge #34

I managed to carve out a little bit of time for card making this afternoon.

The layout for this card is from the Cupcake Challenge #34 over at Taylored Expressions.  I'm a little late playing but better late than never!!

Here is the recipe:
  • Paper: Bazzil and Basic Grey
  • Stamps: Inkadinkado (I love that cupcake)
  • Ink: Archival Ink - jet black
  • Markers: Copic (E27 & RV34)
  • Accessories: rhinestones, ribbon and Nestibilities!
I'm happy with the way the card turned out.  You wouldn't think the patterned paper would pop so much on paper that is the same shade, but it really did.

On a side note.....I was shopping at Michael's yesterday, something I haven't done in awhile and I was so excited to see that they are starting to carry new stamps.  They have a bunch of the new Inkadinkado clear stamps and a bunch of cool stamps from Stampendous.  They had some blank spaces for some Fluffles stamps that are on the way!!  I don't have any stamping stores near me so this is exciting.

Cupcake Challenge #27

With Kate away at camp and Reid volunteering all week at VBS I thought I would have a some free time to do some scrapbooking or card making!  Well, that hasn't been the case! So instead of doing something I should do, I headed over to Taylored Expressions to participate in her weekly Friday Cupcake Challenge.  I have been ordering lots of adorable stamps and have been practicing coloring them with my new set of Copics, but haven't made any cards. So it was time to actually create something with some of the stamps. I think the card turned out cute, but now that I look at how I colored the Bubble and Daisy Bella purses I think I should have used something other than yellow!  It doesn't really go with patterned paper!  O'well!   After checking out Julie's new card on her blog I am going to have to drag out my heat gun and try some embossing today!

Cupcake Challenge!

Since I have had a growing interest in card making I have been surfing the card making websites. There are a ton of them out there.  One that I have really been enjoying is Taylorexpressions.  Every Friday she has a "Cupcake" challenge and this weekend I gave it a go.  I uploaded the card I  made to splitcoaststampers.com.  Head over to splitcoaststampers if you want to see my first attempt at a Cupcake challenge!
