Wordful Wednesday - Let's make some Pie!

Let me just start this post by saying that I am a supreme Apple pie maker! I have been making apple pies since I was a teenager. My husband and I spend every Christmas eve making fresh apple pies for tons of our friends. We love Apple Pies!

Apple pie baking season is rapidly approaching, but we will probably have to put it on hold this year. You see my oven has gone to electronics heaven!

The only way we can replace it with the fancy shmancy double oven I have my eye on is to remodel our 1959 kitchen.  I hate remodeling projects so needless to say I haven't been jumping at the chance to get one started!

Because of that we have been without a working oven for months. My daughter Reid commented yesterday how much she misses making Apple pies (the youngin' love baking). So I had a great idea. Let's try making mini apple pies in the toaster oven (that is also on it's last leg).

So I got out the apple peeler/core thingy from Pampered Chef and let the girl go to town. She peeled, she made crust, she mixed, she stirred, she baked and Wahla..........

Here is one of the four mini apple pies the girly whipped up! I love all the juicy goodness that oozed out during the baking process.  We ate a light dinner so we would have plenty of room for the delish pies!  And they were Delish! Even the morning after and my house still smells like Apple Pie......gotta love that!

Awesome!!!!! Those look beautiful. What kind of crust is that on top. It looks nice and crumbly.

Thank you so much for that recipe. That would actually be nice for my little pies.

mmmm pies!

I'm a pecan pie girl myself and I've passed that love onto my kids. They do like pumpkin though so I need to figure out how to make them!

smart woman to use the toaster oven! Here's to you for not letting a broken oven keep you from PIES!!! ;)

You should attach your email to your profile so I don't have to comment on some other random post...about writing to Bush, YES I should do that. I've been wanting to write him for YEARS but have never followed through. That was one reason why I decided to put these letters on here, for accountability. So next I will FINALLY get around to writing the present.

I don't so much enjoy making as eating apple pies ;) And I want yours! :)

My husband is actually more of the pie maker (and general chef) in the house. Not because I have terrible skills but because he REALLY loves to work his culinary skills. Luckily he's really good at it, too.

For heavens sake woman...remodel the kitchen! If you love to bake...you deserve a beautiful place to do it...and it's gotta be better than using a toaster oven lol
