They say it's your birthday(s)!

This morning when I woke up the first thing I did was wish Jim a Happy Birthday!  After a thank you he looked at me and said, "It's official, we no longer know anything."  Why is that you ask?  Well, it is because we are officially parents of a teenager!!

It's hard to believe that 13 years ago today we celebrated Jim' birthday in the maternity ward of the hospital.  That day he received the one birthday present he will never be able to re gift!

Reid had a pretty rough start to her life.  First was the really bad case of jaundice that required us to travel daily to the hospital for heal sticks.  To help move the billirubin out of her system she had to sleep with these special lights wrapped around her tiny mid section.

Breastfeeding didn't start off well either.   At 12 days old, just as things were starting to improve, she developed an serious infection that landed us in Children's hospital for 3 days.  After the hospital stay Reid had to endure 10 days of antibiotic injections that we so painful that she had to receive an injection of a pain killer first.  She still has a divot in her thigh from all those shots!

Thank God we all made it through this tough time and now she is a lovely 13 year old young lady.  I'll spare you all the mushy stuff, because if you are parents you know how I feel about my daughter!!
So how about that scrapbook page??

My scrapbooking style has changed a little since I started twelve years ago.

As you can see by my handwritten note, the close up picture of Reid at one month is one of my favorite pictures of her as an infant.  There isn't anything more peaceful than the face of a sleeping baby!  The rest of the pictures of her at this age she looked more like a 90 year old woman than a cute little infant!

The last picture is of Reid on her 2nd birthday.  She had the most awesome ringlet curls until she was 5.  Her hair is still curly, but not like when she was little.  Of course these days you would only know that her hair was curly if you are with her when the fog rolls in and causes the true nature of her hair to spring to life.

So Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband and my equally wonderful daughter!

Thanks for stopping by!!

AWww. My son turned 13 on November 2nd. We had to go back to the hospital because of jaundice. I slept on a cot in his room and I was still getting over a C section. I hated seeing them stick him to draw blood. He had the light vest, too. It was scary.
