Giving Back!

Last Friday a few of the girls from my Cadette Girl Scout troop went to the Ronald McDonald House to cook dinner for the families staying there.

The girls made "fiesta chicken", beans, rice, salad and desert for 60 families.

This is the second time our troop has done this service project.  It is such a rewarding project for the girls and for the moms who helped.  Not only do you get to create a home cooked meal for families who are spending many days away from home, but you can also be there to lend an ear to a family member who may be all alone with their child at the hospital.

It's a lot of work but well worth it.  The best thing is you don't have to be a  girl scout troop or involved with an organization to cook dinner at RMH.  All you need is the desire to help and some basic cooking skills.  Think about getting your friends and family together to do the same thing in your neighborhood.....you won't regret it.
