PSF - Playing with Photoshop

PhotoStory Friday Give me your best shot at Better in Bulk

Hosted by Cecily and Lolli

I was over at I heart Faces this morning and read a great Photoshop tutorial from contributor Michelle Johnson of My Two Seasons

Michelle shared how to create that vintage look with your photo's.  With so many people who are creating these types of photoshop actions to sell it is nice to find people who are willing to share some of their editing secrets.

If you haven't tried photoshop yet, take it from me........there is a lot to learn!

So here is my first attempt using Michelle's technique.  I picked a photo that was kind of over exposed so that I could get that blown out look.  I really like the way it turned out.  You can see the straight out of the camera shot below.

After playing with this tutorial I went back to I heart Faces to see if there were any other tutorials to try and low and behold I found another great one from Michelle Johnson.

This one is called "In the Fairy Garden."  In this tutorial Michelle provide two free textures, so hit the above link to download them for yourself.

I am such a freak for bright, highly contrasty pictures but I do enjoy these soft photo's as well.

So there you have it.  I hope you all have a great weekend!

You?

Bright, highly contrasty pictures?

Hmmm...I guess I haven't noticed :)

Yes, these are a departure for you, but I've become convinced that you are incapable of taking a shot that is not beautiful.

I like the side by side to explain what you are talking about! A lot of the learning is a challenge for us visual peeps..... :)

It is nice when people are willing to share their knowledge without a huge fee. I am pretty lucky, my husband is a design guy and works in photoshop daily for work, thus, I get LOTS of free tutorials....he refuses to just do them for me!

Photoshop terrifies me.....

I am pretty afraid of photoshop too. Mostly because I'm already pretty intense about format and style with my blog and pictures so I may not be able to parent anymore if I start photoshop-ing as well.
But i love how yours came out! Thanks for putting before & after!

I think Photoshop is really hard to learn. I used to use it in my old job and I only learned enough to do what I had to do and not much more. It can be a little scary and confusing.

It was fun to see what you can do with it though.

I think part of editing photos is the eye to be able to tell what elements should be used with each photo. :)
