WW - Christmas tradition

When I was a child my mom would only put a few presents under the tree before Christmas. They were usually gifts that relatives sent in the mail and were so few that they really didn't make a big impression on us.

The bulk of our gifts remained hidden in my moms massive closet and didn't make there appearance until after we were sound asleep on Christmas eve.

It was so exciting to get up Christmas morning and see all of the presents spilling out from under the once present barren tree.

This is a tradition that I have continued with my own girls.

Typically I procrastinate and end up wrapping (cursing) all of their gifts on Christmas eve. I am not doing that again this year. See.....I already started!

So my bloggy friends inquiring minds want to know.
What is your Christmas present displaying preference?

****I stamped the tags using clear set from Inkadinkado. Would you believe that I didn't even realize the tag said it was from Santa until I went to write down their names. Those are their Christmas Eve presents, not a gift from Santa (I'll have to fix that).

We wait b/c Santa doesn't bring them until Christmas eve. :)

I usually like to set a few out, then get some out on Christmas Eve...but with all the grabbing hands around here this year, I won't be getting anything out until after bed time on Christmas Eve!!! LOL!!!

Last year, when Z was still too young to be nosy (J has always been pretty good with not opening the presents), we had all the presents piled under the tree as soon as the tree was up. This year, the only presents we have under the tree are the ones that the grandparents have brought and miscellaneous others from friends. The ones from us and from Santa are not coming out until after they're in bed on Christmas eve. :)

I forgot to say... I LOVE your gift tags from Santa!!

I like that tradition. We usually put them under the tree as we get them and wrap them. But this year I'm so far behind, there's nothing under our tree yet! :)

I love those Special delivery tags!! How FUN! Right now my daughter is too young to be able to see what is what, so all presents are wrapped or on deck to be wrapped, out of her reach. :)

We usually put everything out except for "Santa presents" that magically appear for opening on Christmas morn.

Your idea is good to though... ; ) Hope you are having a great Christmas Season!

I get the presents under the tree as soon as they're wrapped.

Not the ones from Santa, though. We keep those unwrapped and put them under the tree after the girls are asleep on Christmas Eve.

HA HA I would love to set some out but the curious George twins of mine would tear through them like a tasmanian devil. Love the tags too! Very cool!

The regular presents start going under the tree and on Christmas Eve we open them. Stockings on Christmas Day.

I put a few "non obvious" presents under the tree before Christmas, BUT, I don't put their names on them. I mark their first initial somewhere on the wrapping paper so I don't forget who's is who's!

well, I do a bit at a time - only santa gifts are left hidden. I like the look of the tree with gifts loaded up under it

When my children were small I would put out all the relatives gifts all nice and wrapped, but their gifts weren't around except maybe for some little ones from Mom, but from Santa the BIG ONES they came out Christmas Eve. Now they're all grown, married, and I have nine grandchildren, and one spoiled husband. I still do it the same way. LOL Merry Christmas. I'm your latest follower. Hope you can stop by me.

Your packages are GORGEOUS!!! I put them under the tree because I like looking at them! :)

I like to dole them out very slowly leading up to Christmas! It is more fun like that.

Funny...we do the same thing as that's how mom did it. Over the years I've perfected the "Santa signature"...but I would LOVED to have picked up on those tags 8 years ago! So clever! :)

In our house NOTHING went under that tree until after we were in bed on Christmas Eve! And then, in the morning, it always looked so pretty with all of the gifts under there! Then we all sat together and read the Christmas story and took turns opening gifts and having fun together! I loved it...we still do it mostly that way now...only....I sleep at my own house. LOL!

same as you..when they're asleep Xmas eve. Otherwise all gifts have been smashed, ripped, peeked into, etc. Better to wait!

We have nothing under the tree because Santa brings all the presents and any that are from us come out on Christmas Eve too (because I normally don't get them wrapped until then anyways! ha!)

We put the gifts on Christmas Eve when the girls are sleeping.

Merry Christmas!!!!!!

Presents from Santa, obviously, make it there by Christmas morning...Everything else is under the tree as soon as I get to wrapping them. I try not to wait last minute anymore. It lessens the stress and makes the tree look more festive :)

I LOVE those tags! I really should make my own as well...I'm just getting back into my craft-mode so maybe I'll start making tags and cards for NEXT year ;) lol

we've always put the presents under the tree as they are wrapped and arrive in the post or whatever. the girls get one large gift for under the tree and the rest are delivered by santa into their pillowcases/santa sacks on christmas eve, so the tree is usually very full well before xmas day! thanks for asking!

Growing up there were always presents under the tree when the tree went up, but then 'Santa' came and brought us more. So, we got to shake the ones under the tree guessing what they could be until then. We knew those were from our parents, though. We loved waking up to see how many more Santa put there for us on Christmas Eve.

Now that we are grown up, and Scott and I don't have children, we don't even wrap presents usually. We just buy things here and there.

OH! Beautiful tree, by the way. LOL.

I got so wrapped up in answering your question that I almost forgot to mention that. :)

We usually wait however not by choice because I am always so behind and wrapping at the last minute. LOL.
I did put out some presents the other night for family members and my girls were so consumed by it I had to put them away cuz I was sure as soon as I turned my back they would be opened.

I have to put them under the tree as soon as they're wrapped, 'cuz if I hide them I forget where I put them... and no, I'm not kidding... The girls suggest I could buy my own presents and I'd just forget what I bought myself... They're entirely too right...

great pictures love the tree

Those gift tags are super cute!! We have started doing the same things as you stated. The family gifts that are sent are already under the tree and we hold off our gifts until Christmas Eve after the boys go to bed!

I am the WORST! Sometimes I don't even wrap. I wrap in plastic grocery store bags because I forget the paper. Seriously. Have you ever heard of such a thing? I need to do it this year though. I have high hopes : )

Unknown said...

I bet that was fun! And I'm sure your kids enjoy it. :) I was an only child and was tortured seeing new little gifts appear randomly, lol. For the 5 (of 7) kids that lived with us we put symbols on the packages, each child was a symbol but they didn't know which one they were until we told them, lol.

Santa doesn't wrap gifts in our house, that is what our parents did too and now I know why it is so much work!

In the past the bulk of our kids presents are given from Santa so don't make an appearance. This year we decided that we were sick of Santa getting all the credit so they are getting more for us and all the kids are old enough that we can put them under the tree. Yahoo.

I like that tradition. Great new header!

Wrapping the presents is the worst part...especially if you wait till Christmas Eve. LOL I TRY to wrap presents as I bring them home and then I forget what's inside the paper. My family has been know to stare at me when I say, "Oh, yeah! Now remember." when the gifts are unwrapped.

Jenners said...

I am in love with your gift tags!!!!!!

Lindsay said...

What a fun wrapper you are!!

I just put all the gifts under the tree as they are wrapped and then santa at our house just brings very little gifts. puzzles and pencils with pads of paper this year. Oh, complete with plastic dinosaurs! ;-)

So far, all their presents go out on Christmas Eve. Up to this point the reason has been so that they won't open them...but it's kind of fun to see their excitement at everything on Christmas morning.

We put out a few presents but Tristan knows that Santa comes on Xmas eve so when he wakes up there is a bunch more. We also put out diet coke and chips for Santa (Daddy). Love that stamp!!!!!
