Wordful Wednesday - Disneyland!

I'm really late with my post for Angie's Wordful Wednesday.  I love WW and hate to miss it so as the saying goes.....better late than never.

I was digging through old digital photo files and I came upon some of my very first digital pictures.

My husband bought me a Nikon Coolpix (the swivel) back in June of 2005.  I was so attached to my 35mm SLR film camera that it took me almost 8 months before I started using my digital camera.

The camera was really nice, but it wasn't easy to use and for someone who was in love with her 35mm SLR, with all it's lovely lens and bounce flash......it was hard for me to move on.

Oh, but the thrill of being able to view your photographs right away.........digital was slowly but surely dragging me away from my film camera.

So on to the picture I want to share.  I adore this picture because of the story behind it.

It goes something like this.   We had visited The Little Mermaid the year before this picture was taken. She was one of Kate's favorite princesses and we stood in line for nearly 40 minutes so that Kate could visit with her again.

As the Little Mermaid chatted with Kate she asked if she had visited with her before.  When Kate said yes, the Little Mermaid said, "I thought I recognized you."  Kate spent the rest of the day beaming with pride that the Little Mermaid had remembered her from the year before.

I don't know how much Little Mermaid gets paid to make the day of little girls.......but my guess it isn't enough.

THAT is an incredibly sweet story. Aren't those Disney characters magical? I still remember young J, maybe 3 years old, meeting Daisy Duck, and then turning to tell us, "She is so boo-ti-fulllll." :-)
Blessings!

What a cute shot!
I had the same reaction to digital when I made the switch in 2004. Also with a Nikon CoolPix! Sometimes I still have problems getting pictures the way I want them but nothing beats the immediate thrill of seeing a picture right after you take it!
Happy WW!

I love it when other people make your kids happy! She definitely isn't getting paid enough to sit there dressed like that!

What a wonderful thing she said! She made a treasured memory for your daughter.

I have to say I'm still fighting the war against digital. I know I need to give up. But, I like scrapbooking, the paper way.

What a great story! Hooray for Ariel!
And I can't even imagine buying film and getting it developed like the "olden" days!

That is a great memory. Ariel was always my oldest's favorite Disney princess. I think she dressed up as Ariel for Halloween 3 years in a row!

We had the same experience with this same Mermaid last May. As it was the first time my kids had been ti Disneyland, I wanted each of them to have at least one unforgettable experience. For Emma (my, at the time, almost 5 year old) meeting Ariel was that moment.

Magic.

We're hoping to get back this May.

(We may even sneak down to Sea World if there's time).

I CAN'T wait to take my girls to Disneyland and see their little faces light up at all the characters. It must be such a fun job.
