Most days I know exactly what I am going to photograph, but sometimes the unexpected catches my attention.
Last week I had one of those days. As I was putting laundry away in Kate's room I noticed a To-Do-List pinned neatly to her bulletin board.
Kate is only 10, but she has been writing Do-To-List since she learned how to write. I love this about her. I also love reading her list and seeing what she has deemed important enough to write down.
So here we have her latest To-Do's:
Pretty standard stuff for a 10 year old.
Make Bed
Clean room
Organize
Do homework
"Change Door Theme"
When I read "change door theme" I burst our laughing.
If you are confused by what this means let me explain. Kate sticks stuff on her bedroom door. I think her last "theme" was items most people would throw away because her door was littered with fortunes from fortunes cookies, her BFF's campaign sticker, candy wrappers, the pull off lid to a tiny Ben and Jerry's ice cream container. I think you get the picture.
I never realized that the crap, I mean treasured items she puts on her door had a theme. I find that kind of charming.
Later that day while the girls were home I was uploading my pictures and Kate saw a snap shot of her To Do List. She said, "Hey.......are you going to blog about that?" That has become a standard question around here.
So I told her how I thought it was really adorable that she was going to change the "theme" of her door and that I wanted to take a picture of her list so that I would always remember this charming part of her personality.
She thought about it for a few minutes and then walked away. About an hour later she yelled from her bedroom and asked me to come down and check out her new door theme.
This is what a found!
Just in case you can't read the last image it says: Photos not allowed either!
Hmmmm, something tells me this months theme is all about banning the Me and and my ever present camera!

I love it!! I'm surprised my hubby hasn't banned me from putting embarassing pictures of him on my blog!
OH MY!!! Right now my daughter wants nothing more than for me to be in her room,I better cherish each second.
today I yelled "I LOVE YOU" out the car window as she went into school, she didnt turn around.
OMG! I am a needy mom, you handle this with so much humor and class. Awww, I should learn from you...that age is coming!
Okay, this is the funniest thing ever. Your daughter has lots of sass. I love it! :)
That is so funny! I guess you had that one coming. lol
I can hear her snapping her fingers and shaking her head at you.
That is way to funny! I am not ready for that age to hit my little one. She rolled her eyes at me today for the first time! It was humorous...but not!

Whoa! I think she is hitting the teen years a little early! I guess that's what happens when they've got an older sister, huh? Too funny!
I think you have now entered the realm of the paparazzi who are not wanted around! How funny.
Not only is that adorable, but it is very indicative of her creative mind! I don't even know the child and I can tell she is bright! Love the lists and the door "theme". I need her for my classroom. Can I borrow her? Okay? :)
sounds quite a bit like lydia...ahh, the drama, no?
that is sooo cute but also so sad.
I think it's cute that she actually used the word theme. :) Looks like the camera may need to be hidden for a while. :)
oh is this familiar to me!!
Both the signs on the door (my twins are forever posting new signs on their door!) and the mom-camera-phobia. They'll thank us someday, right... :-)
Blessings!
LOL! She is trying to avoid the paparazzi...
i get the same thing from my teenagers... they always say "don't put that on your blog" lol, and i usually do. kids are so funny...good one mom!

This was the most adorable and lovely post! I LOVE her list -- and the door theme is beyond priceless! Even though it got you banned, I'm so glad you shared this with us because it was so wonderful! Your daughter rocks!
Okay, that is just hysterical. You gotta love a creative Type A that is monitoring the blogging process--
Hugs and blessings!
This is great! Love her themed door!
Bwhahahahaha!
I LOVE her organizational skills with the checklists! A girl after my own heart. She sounds like a wonderful girl, eventhough "banning mom" was the new door theme!
That is priceless! I love it! How funny! She is one smart cookie.
That's so cute...and she has good handwriting, too!
