The sun was still rising in the east and the lighting was absolutely perfect. The petals even had dew on them (even though you can't see it well in this picture).
I posted this picture for PSF to share with you all what winter looks like in Southern California. This isn't an attempt to make any of the snowed in folks envious.....just thought it might make you smile.
If anyone wants to see the start of my 2009 photo a day project please click: HERE!
Oh and if you aren't familiar with Photo Story Fridays, please go check it out (by clicking the pretty icon at the top of the post). Loads of great photo's being shared.
Happy Friday!

What a beautiful picture to look at on a cold Utah winter night. I agree about the picture a day -- it's changing the way I see my life each day.
Great job!
roses in your front yard in Jan - are you fricking kidding me - want some snow drifts??
gorgeous though!!
Gorgeous! I'm in Northern California and my roses do not like the cold weather. I must say, I'm a little envious of the beauty next to your front door.
Just Beautiful! And I am very jealous!
great picture! i am so excited you are doing a 365 too, how fun! what kind of camera do you use?
What a lovely photo!
I'm obsessed with craft supplies too. I honestly think I like the supplies more than the actual crafting. Esp scrapbook supplies!
What a pretty picture! And, I have to say, I'm a little jealous! :)
I can't even imagine seeing roses right now as I shiver in my computer room! Thanks for sharing, and good luck on your photo a day goal, how fun!
Amazing!! In January?? I am a tad jealous, but thank you for sharing. :)
What a gorgeous photo! And wonderful story!
It certainly made me smile! : )
That rose is simply angelic looking. So gorgeous. I appreciate you sharing the beauty!
Lovely! I love the way the light was captured in this photo, almost faint around the petals! Great capture and good luck with the 365 project.
Please stop over sometime and pick up my Capture award. You deserve it! You can find it on my right sidebar. Happy Friday!
I love that you are doing this and remembered to start in time! I'll be following along on your journey. I'm really loving photo blogs!
Okay, speaking as a "snowed-in folk" from the Canadian prairies, I have to say, this just makes me insanely jealous. Nothing will be blooming here for AT LEAST another four months!!!
Beautiful, beautiful!!
Blessings!
A rose! You lucky girl. And I'm gonna try the picture a day thing too. But I've already missed a few. Hope I can be forgiven for that. ;)
I love living in So Cal!!!
My roses are popping up all over too!
Yours... holy cow... what a shot!
It looks like a 'Peace" rose...
Absolutely beautiful!
What a cool project for the year!
The rose is lovely.
As I sit here in my big fuzzy slippers, the weather outside is
-20 degrees celsius and there is more than a foot of snow on the ground. Love the pic.....sooooooooooooooooooooooooo jealous.
P.s I am hoping to start a photography blog too. I want to do picture projects if I can get enough people interested.......
One word. . . .BEAUTIFUL!!
Awww I miss Southern California. I'll be going home for a visit in April though. I remember after we moved here to Alabama it was not only culture shock but weather shock too. lol
Beautiful picture, beautiful rose, my favorite flower!
You've got me California dreaming now. lol
that is so lovely!
i, too, am so much more "aware" of my surroundings too!
wonderful isn't it?
we're so blessed!
xo
Uh, beautiful. Roses? In January? I want to live where you do!!!
I think I have some under the four feet of snow in my front yard . . . oh wait, they're dead and frozen ;-)
Great picture!
Beautiful photo and beautiful rose. Our pear tree is trying to bloom - thinks it's already spring.
Have a good weekend - Kellan
thank you for showing me a rose, I really needed that today. It really did make me smile.
Roses in January, we just got more snow.
Great picture.... I know what you mean about a warm winter....that's what we get in Florida.
Gorgeous! You make me miss my hometown in sunny Southern CA!
(although 4 seasons are nice, too.)
Great shot.
Beautiful photo! It sounds like an interesting project....1 photo a day.
I love the touch of pink on the flower. Pretty!!
Wow! Beautiful!
love the little pink speckles on it!
We lived in the SF bay area for a while. I loved my flower beds.
but when it was time to move again, I did ask for "seasons"....oh well!
Thanks for visiting my PSF.
Your winters have flowers, which sure is prettier than mine! Beautiful shot.
your girls are gorgeous! it never occurred to me to start a blog for my 365 - i have mine on a slide show!!!
Beautiful rose! I think it would be fun to do a photo a day, I just haven't committed to it yet.
You may not have posted it to invoke envy... but I think you got some! Beautiful rose!
Woa dang! That is a pretty shot! Great job!
WOW! Beautiful picture...and I love that you stopped your everyday tasks and noticed this beauty in your yard!
Wow...I want to move there...lol
That's a beautiful photo!
Such a pretty rose. Everything I plant dies within a week :( Haven't a green thumb I guess. The picture a day sounds like a fun experience, I'll be sure to check it out.
So beautiful! We have neither snow nor roses in winter...
