WW - A good day at the ranch

You know you are having fun when:

You are riding so fast that you leave your hat in the dust.

You know you are having fun when:

Your mom doesn't notice that you are playing with a knife until she gets home an uploads her pictures and by then it is too late to take it away!

You know you are having fun when:

A horse acts like you are her best friend.

You know you are having fun when:

You find the light.

Now for you...........You know you are having fun when?

PSF - Playing with Photoshop

PhotoStory Friday Give me your best shot at Better in Bulk

Hosted by Cecily and Lolli

I was over at I heart Faces this morning and read a great Photoshop tutorial from contributor Michelle Johnson of My Two Seasons

Michelle shared how to create that vintage look with your photo's.  With so many people who are creating these types of photoshop actions to sell it is nice to find people who are willing to share some of their editing secrets.

If you haven't tried photoshop yet, take it from me........there is a lot to learn!

So here is my first attempt using Michelle's technique.  I picked a photo that was kind of over exposed so that I could get that blown out look.  I really like the way it turned out.  You can see the straight out of the camera shot below.

After playing with this tutorial I went back to I heart Faces to see if there were any other tutorials to try and low and behold I found another great one from Michelle Johnson.

This one is called "In the Fairy Garden."  In this tutorial Michelle provide two free textures, so hit the above link to download them for yourself.

I am such a freak for bright, highly contrasty pictures but I do enjoy these soft photo's as well.

So there you have it.  I hope you all have a great weekend!

Rocky Road Bark

I am joining Genny at My Cup 2 Yours for her weekly Talking about Thursday!

This week the talkin' is all about desserts and let's face it.......most of us love dessert!

So in honor of yummy easy to make desserts I present:  Rocky Road Bark.

The cast of characters!

5 Whole Graham Crackers
6 T butter
1/4 Cup packed brown sugar
1/2 t salt
1 C milk chocolate chips
1/3 C mini-marshmallows
1/2 C chopped pecans (or any nut you enjoy)

1. Line a 8x8 square baking pan with heavy duty aluminum foil, making sure the foil is tucked into the corners with at least 1 inch extending up the side of the pan.  Place a single layer of graham crackers along the bottom of the pan. Cut the graham crackers to get them to fit tightly in the pan. (I used 4.5 crackers).

2. Next, combine the butter, brown sugar and salt in a small saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the butter is melted and the sugar has dissolved.

3. Pour the mixture over the graham crackers and spread with a spatula.  Then place the pan in a preheated oven (275) and baked for about 10 minutes, or until the caramel is bubbling.

(I use my toaster oven at 250 and it takes about 5 minutes for the caramel to bubble.)

4. Next sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the caramel/crackers.  Return to the oven for approximately 1 to 2 minutes to soften the chocolate chips.  Remove from the oven and gently smooth the chocolate over the caramel.

5. Now sprinkle the pecans and mini marshmallows over the top of the chocolate.  Cool the bark for 30 minutes before putting it in the freezer for another 30 minutes or until the chocolate  hardens.

(I am impatient....I skip the cooling and head straight for the freezer)

6. Remove the bark from the freeze, peel off the tin foil, cut into squares and enjoy!

Have a sweet day!

WW - Equine Humor!

Our horse Rusty loves a good horse joke.  How about you?

"A Preacher wanted to raise money for his church and, being told there were fortunes in race horses, he decided to purchase one and enter it in the races. However, at the local auction, the going price for horses was so steep he ended up buying a donkey instead. He figured that since he had it, he might as well go ahead and enter it in the races, and to his surprise the donkey came in third.
The next day the racing sheets carried the headlines, "Preacher's Ass shows" The Preacher was so pleased with the donkey that he entered it in the races again and this time he won!
The papers said, "Preacher's Ass out in Front" The Bishop was so upset with this kind of publicity that he ordered the Preacher not to enter the donkey in another race. The newspaper printed this headline, "Bishop Scratches Preacher's Ass" This was just too much for the Bishop and he ordered the Preacher to get rid of the animal.
The Preacher decided to give it to a Nun in a nearby convent. The headlines the next day read, "Nun has the Best Ass in Town" The Bishop fainted. He informed the Nun that she would have to dispose of the donkey and she finally found a farmer who was willing to buy it for $10.00. The paper states, "Nun Peddles Ass for Ten Bucks" They buried the Bishop the next day."
***So that was really a donkey joke, but Rusty thought it was heeee-sterical!***

Happy Wordful Wednesday

I am still around!

I really enjoy blogging.  Let me rephrase that, I really enjoy reading other people's blogs.  I only mildly enjoy creating blog posts.

I have met some fantastic people blogging and really enjoy keeping up with their lives through their blogs.  Unfortunately sometimes life gets in the way of blogging.

When that happens I need to force myself to stay off the computer and focus on getting things done.  Hence my recent bloggy break.

Anyhoo......I miss everyone and will be around to say hi and catch up.

I felt like I needed a picture to go with my post today so here is a collage of my March 365 picture a day project.  You probably wouldn't notice this, but I discovered today that I didn't have a picture for March 18th!

I have been so busy that I have only been posting my 365 shots once a week and I am pretty sure that I deleted the few pictures I took on that day.  O'well, such is life.
Have a great weekend everyone!
