WW - Random Birthday Post

Forty three years ago today, my mom gave birth to her third and favorite child........Me!  In honor of my birthday I thought I would share a past birthday memory.

When I was either 8 or 9 my mom asked me what kind of cake I wanted for my birthday.  Having recently discovered a love for Sara Lee strawberry cheesecake I asked her if she would buy me one.  I remember her being a little miffed that I wanted a store bought cake, but she agreed.

My request didn't stop there, I also asked if she could buy me my very own cheesecake!

That's right.......I wanted that perfectly delicious cheesecake all to myself.  Just put that baby in front of me and let me have at it!

I went over to my moms this morning to get the picture of me sitting with my very own cheesecake, but we couldn't find it.

I resorted to my favorite complaint that as a third child there aren't any pictures of me, so my mom whipped out the album which contains pictures from when I was born (which now reminds me that the picture I was looking for is probably in my baby book).

Here is my mom posing at my baby shower with one of her gifts.  For those of you that are a little younger than I am, that is a baby car seat.

I'm pretty sure the only reason any of the kids from my generation made it past childhood was because our parents didn't get into a car accident with us in the car.......because you know that seat was used just to keep us from rolling around on the floor boards of the car!

So last week when my mom asked me what type of cake I wanted for my birthday I said, "Cheesecake."  But I let her make it this time around and I won't be eating the entire cake by myself.

Happy Birthday to my fellow Gemini's and Happy Wordful Wednesday.

Great post! Love that you wanted a cake all to yourself! =)
That 'car seat' is frightening!! How on earth did they put a baby (newborn) in that thing!?
I agree, all of us from the sixties & seventies are alive only because of no car accident. Crazy stuff!
Happy Birthday my dear friend!

Michelle,
I loved this post! It was sweet to read about your birthday memories.

How did you get the photos in there? Scan them? The quality still looks great. I've wanted to use some old photos too, but wasn't sure the best way...

Hugs to you!

Welcome to 43! I turned 43 in Feb. :) I never even knew they made car seats back then! I certainly did not have one, lol. I used to stand in the seat while my mama drove around. :)

Happy BIrthday to you. I, also, wonder how we ever made it through those years. I remember my parents letting me ride on the back of the truck with my legs dangling off. I'd never let my kids do that.

Happy birthday!

So glad you got your cheesecake now and then.

And, holy cow, I guess when my mom told me she held me on her lap in the car and it was okay, I should have believed her...because it wouldn't have been any less safe than that seat!

May your birthday be filled with cheesecake wishes and young wrinkle free dreams.. I'm 43 too and my mom and dad's idea of a car seat was a hand up to catch me while I stood up in the middle... That still floors me. haha oh well.... we made it.
Happy Birthday,
Staci

Wow! Now I totally know what my mom was talking about when she told us about the car seats we had when we were little.

That would totally not save anybody!
