PSF - Old school entertainment

At the risk of sounding really old.........I grew up in a time when the viewmasters was an exciting toy.
It had a simple design that delivered brightly colored images.  I can still hear the sound the toy made as I clicked to each new image.

I was going through some very neglected drawers in Reid's closet and I found five old viewmaster cards from when the girls were little.

Would you believe that in this age of high tech everything they are still making viewmasters?

I guess there are enough parents still wanting their little ones to enjoy a little low tech fun.

Did you have a viewmaster as a kid?
Did you buy one for your own kids?

I LOVED my Viewmaster!! The 3D effect was so groovy!! I had a Robin Hood set and there as one slide of Prince John that freaked me out...so of course I looked at it all the time. :)

I bought one for Isaac when he was little and I have no idea where it went. Now I'm sad...those pics of yours are AWESOME!

Ours lasted forever. We bought one for our kids and then they came out with the 3d and the special sound effects ones too. Lots of fun and cheap, and quiet! (EXCEPT THE NEW SOUND EFFECTS ONE) LOL

Ah. the viewmaster, I loved the viewmaster. They had on Modern Family last night where he had his own slide thing made, I wonder if you can really do that? The girl has binoculars that have a viewmaster type show in them.

I just made a slideshow for my family blog and used the viewmaster background, and then I come over here and see yours! Funny!

I adored the viewmaster!!
But you know, I don't think my kids ever had one...
I need to look for one for the next generation! :-)

Between my kids and I, I'd bet we've gone through a couple dozen View Masters.

I can't resist once I get on in my hands.

I had a Wizard of Oz set that was my favorite (Well, that and Electra Woman and Dyna Girl)

My viewmaster rocked! My son got one for a present, I guess it's supposed to be "portable" but you can't just pop the cards in an out, you need a screwdriver...what fun is that for a 2 year old?

Man, I love viewmasters! I had The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh as a kid. Now, my girls have their own viewmaster. Come to think of it...Where is that thing? I might need to dust it off. It sure would make a rainy day fun and something a little different than the Wii for a change.

I commented on the 365 that I had one. But yes one of my kids - I believe K-Girl - got one as a present. But she destroyed nearly all her little slides. I don't think she was quite old enough to enjoy it fully.

Oh yes ... I had one and I was so surprised to see they still make them. I got one for the Little One but he was not too impressed with it. I guess it is hard to compete with all the other flashy toys out there today. I love your photos of them!!!!

Yes, I had one as a kid. Probably had Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake and Disney cartridges.

And yes, I bought one for Hannah when she was about 4 (so about 5 years ago)... she had Dora the Explorer and Winnie the Pooh.
