I have lived my entire 42 years in Southern California, but up until this Sunday I hadn't stepped foot on Hollywood Blvd Walk of Fame.
So this past weekend we jumped in the car, braved the smog and traffic for our chance to check out Hollywood for ourselves.
So this past weekend we jumped in the car, braved the smog and traffic for our chance to check out Hollywood for ourselves.
Our first stop was the Hollywood walk of Fame. The atmosphere on Hollywood Blvd was buzzing with energy and weirdos!
Walking up and down the street reading all of the names of stars that have paid $25,000 to have their names immortalized for all to see (and walk on) was kind of fun.
It was an interesting collection for sure, with many names that made us say, "Really"? We actually walked the most popular section of the street twice because Reid wanted to find Leonardo decaprio's star.

We couldn't find him! So when we got home we checked the list of stars and discovered that Leo has not been given a star yet, but Vanna White and Pat Sejak have!!! Really?
What was most interesting to me was watching which "Stars" drew people's attention. Many were ones you would expect and some made me go.......Hmmmm!
Most of the action was happening out on the sidewalk in front of Grauman's Chinese theater.
Most of the action was happening out on the sidewalk in front of Grauman's Chinese theater.
There were numerous people dressed up as movie stars/characters just waiting for a chance to take their picture with you......for a small fee.
There we several Captain Jack Sparrows and characters from Pirates. Snoopy, Elmo, Little Mermaid, Dorthy, Jesus, Elvis, Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe, a Snow White drag queen, and two Michael Jacksons were among the crowd. Star Wars and Marvel Comics were also well represented.
This guy is the Bumble Bee from the Transformer movie. We all thought he had the best costume, but there wasn't a single character that they girls had any desire to pose with.
That is until a skinny pale guy with sparkly skin walked up!
Oh yeah baby!
While we waited for the girls turn with Edward, Elvis and Jesus walked by looking more than a little annoyed with the crowd around this vampire wannabe.
Elvis said, "Hey...whatcha all doing waiting on that guy, Jesus is the one you need to be hanging with." We all laughed, but something tells me that the minute Elvis and Jesus had their chance they hustled young Edward to the less busy section of the street.

Michelle, thanks for commenting at my Wordless Wednesday post! Do you mean to tell me the celebrities just pay $25,000 and they get a star?? I didn't know that! What a bummer! I bet you girls were happy to get a picture with that Twilight wannabe! :)
How fun! I want to go there! It's funny because we live in CA too, but hardly go to the touristy spots either.
Thank you, Michelle, for sharing your weekend. It makes me feel like I'm there, traipsing along behind you! Your photos are excellent and make me resolve to take more pictures for myself (and to NOT LOSE the new camera my hubby gave me for Christmas..). Great Stuff!!
I think the price is $25000, obscene huh? and the stars have to solicit the city of Hollywood themselves and ask to have a star... it isn't given to them, most of the time, someone writes in for the star (another star)... and pays the money for them....
Great pics.. all
I would think that street would be packed bumper to bumper but it didn't look like it was. I've never been there but it would be fun looking around.
You have to pay to use your OWN camera and take a picture?! That stinks!
Sounds great. I think watching people is a hoot...and there the people must be "double hoots." ;-)
Wait ... the stars PAY for these stars???? Really?
And that is one pretty good fake Edward.
I could see the Little One liking to see all the characters.
Fun post.
LOVE IT! ...really love the last picture with mr vampire! As clearly, I'm a follower and counting down the days til Eclipse! :0
Wow, I so want to go there.
I am feeling a little star struck right now.
LOL, that is so funny!!
When I was there, a dog peed all over the stars! >:(
Aww I loved it!!
I was there back in 1996, and I most go back really soon. Now I live in an boring island call "South Padre Island, TX"
I loved that last shot!!!yeah I am a big fun of VAMPIRES!!!
amazing pictures. love the shirley temple one. thanks for sharing your hollywood adventure. i went to L.A. back in '04 and walked the blvd.
it is strange to see certain stars for some celebs and not for others. besides the money they spend, i also think there is a waiting list and certain celebs get priority. also, it's a good PR push if they have a big movie coming out, or something. happy WW and take care.
You my friend, know how to shoot a tourist trap!! LOVE the pictures!!
Oh my gosh this looks like SO much fun! Who knew? I mean, I knew it was there, but all the dressed up people? Didn't know that! (hey, I live in ohio, lol)
Great post, very enjoyable!
I have lived in Southern Ca my entire life and I only recently went down to Hollywood. I didn't go just for the stars either. We went to see Wicked at the Pantages Theater and their just happened to be a few stars in front. Isn't that sad.
HOW FUN! I would have had my pic with Edward too. White vampires with sparkles turn me on! :) lol (I know, I'm like 12 at heart!)
I love the Shirley Temple one! SO COOL!
All that time there and this was your first trip?! Wow! I wouldn't mind walking it. :)
I love people watching!! But I really don't understand what all the hype is about the Walk of Fame, especially now that you mentioned about the 25k!! But either way, your girls look like they had fun :-)
LOL on what Elvis said!
And I guess I need to read to books to actually understand the fascination with skinny pale guy. :-)
Now that looks like a fun day!! Love the Edward look-a-like :)
That's funny that you'd never been there before! I love the energy down there. Now I want to make another visit...
I didn't realize that the stars had to pay $25,000 for their own star!
Yeah, residents hardly ever get to visit the tourist spots... :)
Lived my whole life in So Cal too and didn't see the Walk of Fame until well into my 20's! Crazy huh?
We have family in LA and have been there tons of times, but I've never been to the Walk of Fame either. Thanks for the great tour!
Genny :)
Hmmm....looks like a fun day! Thanks for taking the time to share a bit about it! This was a fun post to read!
Fascinating. First, I had no idea they paid for their spots. Too funny. And I also didn't know look-alikes hung out there.
I didn't know they paid for their star or that look alikes hung about. What fun!
Those are great shots:-)
What fabulous shots! Looks like a great time. Had to be fun watching people. Doing touristy things in your own backyard is so fun. You would be surprised how many people living here (suburbs of Buffalo) have never been to Niagara Falls.
Cool visit but that's just ridiculous that someone would get a star for looking pretty and turning letters! I just don't get it sometimes....
How fun! That looks like a great weekend outing. I wish it wasn't freezing here so we could fun outings!
How fun! Your pictures are awesome and your story about your walk of fame was so entertaining. Who would have thunk Leo didn't have a star? I mean with Titanic and Gangs of New York, he so deserves a flipping star or Vanna White! WHATEVER!
"Edward" could also double as a James Dean.
I have only been there once, and it was quite the sight to behold. I thought there characters there were pretty funny!
I have never been to CA. We may take a big trip there in a couple of years. The Walk of Fame will be one of our stops for sure.
Looks like a blast...I so want to go there too!
Love Edward.... :)
I can't believe you had never been there before........and I didn't know stars got to pay 25K for their star! I used to work in the CNN building on Cahuenga and I used to love all the crazy energy down there!
I can't believe Leo doesn't have a star!
Fun day! I've never been to Hollywood before, but it seems like an adventure. ;)
Who would have thought that pale and pasty would ever be considered hot?
I probably would have done the same thing!
Sounds like a fun adventure, and you're pictures turned out so great!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Love Edward......that guy looks a bit creepy but love it anyway :)
Elvis, Edward Cullen, and Jesus walk into a bar...
Sounds like a surreal scene! I need to check it out someday!
That last photo with Edward is great! He does look a tad creepy, but I suppose he should, right?
It's been ages since I headed to that part of L.A. Last time we saw a movie in the Chinese Theater and it was wonderful!
The Shirley Temple picture is too sweet. It looks like you had fun - especially the girls with "Edward". LOL
How fun that you finally went! I loved Shirley Temple when I was a kid. And $25,000??? Wow! I thought it more like an award type of thing.
That is so cool...and I have to admit my heart skipped a beat when I saw them getting to stand with a (wannabe) Edward!
someone writes in for the star (another star)... and pays the money for them....
Work from home India
Isn't it fun doing touristy things close to home. All the fun of a vacation but with the benefit of your own bed to sleep in at the end of the day.
i suppose when you live locally, you think u can always do it - is that supposed to be edward??? i love sandra bullock btw - fave actress
