Birthday Party fatigue!

My daughter has a fairly large circle of friends.  These friends have parents who throw their daughters birthday parties each and every year (unlike me).

The bulk of her friends were born in the first few months of the year, which means that for several months the child has a lot of parties to attend.

This month she attended three parties, two of which were sleepovers.  Last Saturday's sleepover had a theme.  The guest were asked to come dressed as a celebrity of their choice.

Kate and her best friend Jaquelyn wanted to go as twins and the only twins they could think of were the Olson twins, Mary Kate and Ashley.  Blonde wig, big glasses, skinny body, dark make-up and granny style jewelry......the look was complete!

Now it is pretty typical that when there is a sleepover that the girls go to bed late.  The goal is to stay up as late as your 10 year old body will allow.

Kate came home on Sunday at 9:00 a.m., by 9:30 a.m. she was sound asleep and she stayed asleep until 12:30.  Something tells me that they reach way past their goal.

My mom never let me go to sleepovers until I was 13. By then, it wasn't fun anymore.

My daughter was prohibited from sleepovers for two years because of the grief we all went through for days and days after. That fatigue is terrible.

Oh that so reminded me of going to sleepovers and being so exhausted when I got home. So funny1

And I know what you mean about birthday party burnout. My son is only 4 and it seems like we have them all the time even though how many "real friends" can he have at this age? It is mostly due to the "you must invite everyone" policy at his preschool. It is an expensive little policy. I know I could say "no" but he always has such fun.

Ah, sleep overs! Must be nice to have a night to yourself. At what age do they typically start? Is 18 months too soon!?

As always, darling pictures of your lovely ladies!

Sounds like sleepovers around our house, or should I say when my kids are at other houses. Here it is bedtime at midnight, no ifs, ands or buts.
I was very intrigued to see the spelling of Kate's friend Jaquelyn's name. That is how we spelled our daughter's and I have never seen it anywhere else. I will have to let her know she is not alone. She hates that no one spells it correctly.

"Sleepover" should be changed to "stay- and run around all night and get a cold when you get home-over".
Still my kids love them dearly.
