Paper Flower Puffs

Do you love Martha Stewart?  I do.  So much so that I recently plunked down a few bills for her most recent book, "Martha Stewart's Encyclopedia of Crafts."

I have been known to purchase crafty books only to never produce one single craft from the book. Sometimes just drooling over the projects feels like enough.

Well, not this time.  There are far too many yummy crafts to let this book go unused.  So I give you my first project: Flower puff balls (currently on display in Kate's room).

These tissue paper flower puffs are so simple to make, and here is how:  Begin by stacking 8 to 10 sheets of tissue paper together.  Then accordion fold the paper until you get to the end (about a 1.5" for the fold).  If there is a little tail of left over paper just cut it off.

Fold the long accordion sheets in half to find the middle and then twist a piece of 18 inch floral wire (or any thin wire you have on hand) around the center.  Twist the top of the wire into a loop for hanging your puff.

Next use a sharp pair of scissors to cut the ends to make them either round or pointy.  My 50 pairs of craft scissors all seemed to dull to cut through all the paper at once so I simply cut it in sections (I'll bet you Martha never has that problem).

Now gently start pulling each layer of paper towards the center.  I pulled half of the paper in one directions and then pulled the other bunch in the opposite direction, forming a ball.

Ta Dah.......you have a super pretty decoration to hang in your kids room or better yet, use them to brighten up your next party.

While I am at it I thought I would share the new mirror in Kate's room.  I used a can of white glossy spray paint to give this old mirror a hip upgrade.

It was so much fun spray painting the mirror that I am looking for other items in my home to spray paint.

Here is a link to the craft on Martha Stewarts site.  Craft on sisters!
